'Bale it don't chop it'

'ARC-Addington' Fund asks for straw

The ARC-Addington Fund is warning that this winter there could be an acute shortage of straw and fodder. Many farmers in the areas worst affected by foot and mouth restrictions are already using their winter stocks now.

Farmers with spare straw are asked to 'bale it not chop it'.

The Fund aims to source straw, hay and silage and move it to farmers who have serious overstocking problems, or who are unable to access grazing land due to movement restrictions. It is hoped to develop a nation-wide fodder database.
As with the financial aid there will be a national contact number. At present the need is for farmers to be aware of the need to 'bale not chop'. If you know of anyone who may be able to help in this way then please pass this information on to them.
